CSV Files ​

This feature is ideal for WordPress users who prefer to manage their data in a spreadsheet program and publish it as professional, responsive tables. These tables support multiple filter methods, sorting, styling, and export formats.

WP Data Access loads your CSV file into a database table and updates it at configurable intervals. You can continue to maintain your data in your favorite spreadsheet program.

📌 To use the remote connection wizard, you must first enable our Premium Data Service on your WordPress server.

PREPARATION ​

Ensure your CSV file is available at a public URL before starting the remote connection wizard. Test your public URL to confirm it returns the raw CSV file content only. (read more…)

📌 This feature works great for syncing data from Google Sheets.

CREATION ​

  1. Start the Data Explorer.
  2. Click the connect icon to open the remote connection wizard.
  3. Select CSV file from the connection type drop-down list.
  4. Enter the public URL of your data file in the file path field.
  5. Define an update interval, or leave it blank if automatic updates are not required.
  6. If your CSV file contains a header row, these values will be used as column names. Otherwise, columns will be named COL001, COL002, etc.
  7. Change the default field delimiter if necessary.
  8. Enter a table name.
  9. Click the create button.

USAGE ​

  • Tables created from CSV files can be used just like standard WordPress tables and are supported by all plugin tools.
  • A primary key is required for data management and must be explicitly defined in WP Data Access.
  • Modifications made within WP Data Access are not written back to the original CSV file.
  • Read the limitations before you start.
